ART-- A Couple of Legend of the Five Rings Pieces
I haven't posted art in a while, so why not? I just went to an L5R (Legend of the Five Rings) CCG Tournament this weekend in Irvine, CA to sell some prints and sign some cards, so have art and L5R on my mind... (I'd have BJDs on my mind, only I had to miss this weekend's Meetup, sadly!)

The Blood of Champions Tournament was lots of fun. Artist Steve Argyle (some of his art can be seen here: http://www.artwanted.com/artist.cfm?ArtID=11535 ) was there from Utah, so I scored some cool art in trade and squeezed in some art-talk now and then. We stayed until the very end--I got to chat with some of the players about some fun subjects. It was great.

"Datsu-ba, Spider Clan, Bog Hag.
She's pretty and alluring, which if you're something non-human and nasty signifies trouble--and that she's just stolen the skin off of someone pretty and alluring...
From Stronger Than Steel Expansion.

From the recently released Honor's Veil Expansion, "Kitsuki Taiko, experienced"
Dragon Clan samurai, magistrate.
I was working on this set while at last year's GenCon.

And just to show my crappy sketch technique... This is the rough sketch I turned in for approval. I draw right on top of it for the final, since it's done digitally. Although I don't vary much from sketches done traditionally, either... Pencil or Wacom Tablet, my sketches are still messy and have no style or line quality. *sigh* Heheheh--you can see that I got lazy with the background details and just threw in more trees instead of bothering to draw a bridge...

Yep, the Volks store is in Torrance, SW of L.A., South of LAX... Open only on weekends. Elfdoll store is in Glendale (W of Pasadena, NE of LA), only open on weekdays... Elfdoll carries Elfdoll dolls and clothes and some accessories from other brands. Volks pretty much carries only Volks. You can see generally what they MAY have in the stores if you check out the websites:

Volks USA website--

Volks Page with Store Location and Info--

Elfdoll English website--

Elfdoll Store location and info--

Heheh--You can see me, Tom and Bill in that photo on the Elfdoll Store page!

Where is the Dorsai Thingie held???

Your art never ceases to amaze me. I really love these two pieces, even though I don't know their series origin. The first one is delightfully creepy, too.

I've got some stuff... They can look at my website which MAY indicate what prints I have (or maybe not--I'm horrible at updating!)...

Yeah we'll be there at opening.
We're meeting the boys at their house at 9am then grabbing breakfast at jack in the box to be there at 10:45 or so.
You're welcome to join us, Annette will be at Volks too so we'll likely go to lunch at the Curry house.

Thanks for the info!

I may show up for the store and lunch, I'll have to see how I feel and what's going on (but should be free to go).

Fortunately, I don't really want to buy anything at the store, but I fear I'll buy something anyway! (ack!)
